Dirk Clarysse

Partner

Dirk’s career started in 2000. After extensive experience as an employee and partner in two large law firms, he founded Bright in 2010. As of 1 September 2022, he will join Philippe & Partners at Bright.

Dirk is a member of the West Flanders and Brussels bars. He focuses mainly on commercial contracts and litigation, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and contracts and real estate. In addition, he sits on several boards of directors and advisory boards and is semi-professionally active in the real estate sector.

Areas of legal expertise:

  • Contracts and real estate: drafting and litigation of construction and architect’s contracts, liability cases, etc. as well as advice and guidance in transactions and disputes concerning the sale and rental of real estate, construction promotion, etc.
  • Commercial contracts: development of sales networks; drafting and litigation of agency and distribution agreements, licensing and manufacturing agreements, management agreements and other forms of professional cooperation (national and international), edm.
  • Companies and M&A: advice and guidance in the formation of companies, mergers, acquisitions (shares and trading funds) and management buy-outs, shareholder and/or director disputes and liability issues, etc., including proceedings.

Outside the bar

  • Advisor for the firm Franchise.be 

    For about three years, Dirk has been a contact point for members of franchise.be, a structure that provides advice and assistance to mostly franchisors or prospective franchisors, sometimes also franchisees (see www.franchise.be/diensten-en-raadgeving). His intervention can range from advising on existing ongoing structures and contracts to the legal elaboration of contracts and conditions for the start-up of completely new franchise concepts. Questions on structures such as distribution and commercial agency can also be addressed in that context.

     

  • Advisor Start & Go project POM

    Through an award file, Dirk has been appointed as legal advisor for the Start & Go project of the Province of West Flanders (POM; see www.startandgo.be) since mid-2021 and for a term of 3 years. The project makes material support (mainly infrastructure) and advice available to start-ups and scale-ups.

     

  • Various mandates

    Besides being a lawyer and partner of the firm, Dirk serves on a number of governing and advisory boards, he puts his knowledge of law to good use in a practice environment. He is also semi-professionally active in the real estate sector.
