Tom Van Noyen is a counsel within our law firm. He is in charge of the firm’s Dutch speaking department. He specializes in arbitration and litigation, as well as in the drafting and negotiating of national and international contracts.
His practice primarily focuses on complex commercial and civil disputes in a wide range of sectors, including the banking, insurance and energy sectors. He assists clients before the courts in Belgium and in national and international arbitration.
He combines his law practice with an academic career at the Institute for the Law of Obligations at the Catholic University of Leuven (Prof. Dr. S. Stijns and Prof. Dr. I. Samoy), where he is a teaching assistant for the course “Contract Law in the Company”. He is regularly invited as a speaker on this subject.
Furthermore, Tom has built up experience as an in-house counsel with one of the finest multinationals in the energy sector, which gives him a better insight in the way an in-house legal department operates and allows him to accurately meet his clients’ needs.
Tom obtained his law degree at the Catholic University of Leuven, graduating magna cum laude. He also studied law at the Humboldt Universität in Berlin (Erasmus). Before joining the Brussels Bar in 2013, he undertook an internship with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania (UN-ICTR).
Tom joined Philippe & Partners in 2013 and became a counsel in 2017.
